RL Fusion: Reflex Locomotion for the Orthopedic Rehab Model
RL Fusion bridges the foundational science of Reflex Locomotion According to Vojta with the day-to-day demands of orthopedic rehabilitation — giving beginner and advanced practitioners alike a clear path from theory to clinical application.
Whether you're encountering reflex locomotion for the first time or already have prior training, RL Fusion meets you where you are and builds forward. Each progression layers new skill onto the last, so you leave with techniques you can integrate into your practice today.
What You'll Learn
The foundational principles of Reflex Locomotion According to Vojta, including the neurophysiological basis for planned/predicted movement patterns
A review of the current state of the literature surrounding reflex locomotion and its clinical relevance
Basic stimulation zones and starting positions, with guided hands-on practice to build tactile skill and precision
Advanced stimulations and starting position variations for more complex clinical presentations
How to blend reflex locomotion into an orthopedic rehab model at every stage — from your first stimulation zone to your most advanced starting position
Direct instruction and lab time to practice, observe, and refine technique with feedback
Course Structure
RL Fusion is built as a progression, not a single-level workshop:
Foundations — Reflex Locomotion According to Vojta, the supporting literature, and the clinical reasoning behind it
Basic Stimulations & Starting Positions — core technique, built through hands-on practice
Advanced Stimulations & Starting Positions — expanded technique for more complex cases
Orthopedic Integration — at each level, learn to fuse reflex locomotion into your existing orthopedic rehab approach
Who Should Attend
RL Fusion is designed for [PT, OT, DC, ATC, MD, DO, pelvic floor specialists, movement and rehab specialists] — whether you're new to reflex locomotion or ready to deepen and apply skills you already have. No prior Vojta training is required to attend.

Description:
The Reflex Locomotion According to Vojta Level 1 (RL1) Course is based on the principles of Czech pediatric neurologist Dr. Vaclav Vojta. This course clarifies how, why, and where to administer the therapy of reflex locomotion. Through an understanding of postures and stimulation zones the practitioner will be able to rationalize the therapeutic intervention.
In this course you will learn:
The history of Reflex Locomotion According to Vojta
Primitive movement patterns across development from fetus to free walking.
Current research and published literature around the technique
An overview of the reflexive stimulation points.
Course outline:
Introduction and Philosophy
Creep stimulation Zones
Creep movements and muscle functions
Roll stimulations
Roll muscle functions
Examination of movement
Application of therapy based on evaluation of movement
Variations
First position
Reflex roll variations
Lateral postures
Problem solving and decision making
Reflex Locomotion Level 2 Course
Description:
The Reflex Locomotion According to Vojta Level 2 (RL2) course is based on the principles of Czech pediatric neurologist Dr. Vaclav Vojta. This course reviews RL1 topics and introduces the popular advanced variations. Variations to the RL-1 starting postures has application in both orthopedic and basic neurological conditions. You will learn the how, why, and where to administer the therapy of reflex locomotion variations. Through an understanding of these advanced postures and stimulation zones the practitioner will be able to confidently apply therapeutic intervention and advanced application of concepts built in RL-1 (neural plasticity, motor patterning and organizing).
In this course you will learn:
A review of RL1 material with advanced variations of roll and creep positions
A deeper review of muscle chains and their functional applications with common soft tissue approaches.
Orthopedic applications of Reflex Locomotion and treatment workflow concepts
An introduction to exercise approaches built around Vojta concepts (Brunkow/Ter Blum)
RL2 course outline
A. Roll 1 variations- all positions include: stimulation points, predicted movements, and advanced muscle actions
B. Roll 3
C. Roll 4a
D. Roll 4b
E. Creep Variations- predicted movement patterns, head & spinal movement
Prone hip with orthopedic limitations
Face leg full flexion
Occiput leg full flexion
Face leg overhang
Occipital leg overhang
F. Diagonal Sit
G. Double Elbow support
H. Exercises: Brunkow, Ter Blum
I. Orthopedic Considerations for Reflex Locomotion & Treatment Workflow
