Why Consider a Course in Reflex Locomotion?

Movement is not something the develops spontaneously in the vertical posture, because life begins lying on our backs or our bellies.  While in the womb a fetus is in a fluid filled, environment, absent of gravity.  Gravity creates the challenge for the infant to move from back and belly lying, to lying with elbow support, lying with hand support, through to side lying, crawling, creeping, and eventually free two foot walking.  The ability to rise against gravity requires global muscular actions and interactions, that differ from those that occur in the fluid filled womb.  Understanding these global muscle plays, including their anatomic and functional chains, helps us identify the movement deficiencies that have occurred during a child’s development.  It is through the application of Reflex Locomotion/Vojta Therapy that we can restore muscular synergy to idealize movement.

One of the numerous unique features of Vojta Therapy is its emphasis on reflexive movements. These movements stimulate the body's natural reflexes and activate muscles in a specific pattern, resulting in improved strength, coordination, and balance.

Primitive Therapeutics’ Vojta Therapy/Reflex Locomotion course is designed for the licensed and trained healthcare professional.  Our course is designed for Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers, MDs. DOs, Nurse practitioners and Physician Assistants.  The therapy involves specific techniques and movements that require precision and expertise. Patients must also undergo regular evaluation and monitoring to ensure the therapy is effective and safe for their individual needs.

Vojta Therapy is an invaluable tool for healthcare practitioners seeking to provide their patients comprehensive and effective care.   It is widely utilized in many countries worldwide to treat neurological conditions such as spinal cord injuries, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease, as well as orthopedic conditions of the spine, and extremities.  Unfortunately, Vojta’s original works have never been translated to English so the presence of the therapy in the states is much less than other countries.  It is not taught in English speaking PT schools, and there are fewer than 20 therapists in all of North America.
